A Breath of Fresh Air - Benjamin Moore's Colour of 2014

Isn't it unbelievable that 2014 is nearly upon us?  And it's that time of year that paint companies come out with their trend colours for the upcoming year.  Benjamin Moore's 2014 colour of the year is "Breath of Fresh Air", a beautiful, ethereal blue, that's being called the "new neutral".  This colour is totally livable and functional with so many different styles.  Pastels are making a return to design, but not the pastels of the 80s, these are toned down with grey undertones.  Have a look:

This colour, is light and fresh and is a great backdrop to the emerging pastel trend we are currently seeing.  This pure, clean colour can also be incorporated amazingly well with the current look of rich jewel tones as well as a great complement to the grey trend.

Apartment Therapy

For me, I don't know if I could paint an entire room with Lemon Sorbet.  Like I said earlier, it is a very clean colour so once on the walls, it would appear much brighter than what you see on the paint chip.  So, here are my recommendations to incorporate this trend:  

 

-Inject some colour into your space with furniture, bedding, throw cushions and accessories

-Paint your ceiling or a feature wall

-Incorporate hits of colour with wall art or paint some accents as in the last photo

 

If you still love the yellow hue and you want to paint your room, a couple alternatives to Lemon Sorbet are Weston Flax HC-5 and Pale Moon OC-108.
